Player Code of Conduct
At Foundations Baseball, we believe that baseball is the greatest game ever, and we want to make sure we are playing it in an honorable and respectful way. We’ve developed this player Code of Conduct to establish our expectations of players who come through our system.
Foundations Player Code of Conduct
1. I will show up, unless otherwise agreed to between myself and the coach. Situations include: behind on school work, family emergencies. Graduation from a grade less than 12 does not constitute an emergency.
2. I will always give my best effort. Even if I am not feeling 100%, I will give 100% of what I have. In practice or in game. I will show up and give everything I have.
3. I will respect my coaches. I will respect their experiences, their knowledge of the game, the fact that they are trying to make me better, and their authority which I have given them of my own free will.
4. I will respect the umpires. I understand that I may not agree with a call, but it is not my position to argue with a call or question the umpires authority over the game.
5. I will respect my team. As much as baseball is an individual effort, it is a team sport, and I will always encourage my teammates. They cannot succeed without me, and I cannot succeed without them.
6. I will respect myself. I will not ever talk down on myself because of an error, a strikeout, any of the 12 billion possible plays on a baseball field that I may have made a mistake on. I will simply acknowledge and move on to the next pitch.
7. I will always remember that baseball is a game. It was made by men who wanted to have fun. Regardless of the score at the end of any game, it is a game. It is a game I love, and enjoy playing, but it is a game.
